About us
Pusat Kolaborasi Riset Mikroba Karst Unhas-BRIN.
This study examines the diversity of microbes (bacteria, fungi, etc.) that live in karst ecosystems (limestone areas). Karst ecosystems are known to have extreme conditions (temperature, humidity, pH), so adaptive microbes have the potential to produce useful bioactive compounds (antibiotics, enzymes, etc.).

Vision
The vision of PKR Mikroba Karst Unhas-BRIN is “to become a research center for Karst Microbes to support the realization of sustainable karst area management, especially in the Maros-Pangkep Karst area.
As a research center, we not only explore the potential of karst microbes for biotechnology, health, and environmental applications, but also play an active role in crafting science-based policies for the protection of karst ecosystems. By combining cutting-edge research, education, and community service, we aim to create real impact for environmental conservation, scientific advancement, and empowerment of local communities in the sustainable management of karst resources.

Mission
“Achieving this vision is pursued through 3 (three) missions, namely.
(1) Organizing R & D activities to produce relevant research products according to user needs, especially in the management of potential karst microbes of Maros-Pangkep, both basic, applied and diffusion research, and able to answer the challenges and root causes of the utilization of potential karst microbes.
(2) Improve the mastery and utilization of karst microbial management research.
(3) Strengthening supporting elements in the implementation of research and development activities, including planning, evaluation, reporting, management of facilities and infrastructure, human resources, institutions, cooperation and dissemination of karst microbial research results to industry, society and other users.
